- You know her as the quirky lawyer Ally McBeal, but
Calista Flockhart is no stranger to the Broadway stage.
After completing the theatre program at Rutgers University,
Ms. Flockhart did the regional theatre circuit, made limited
appearances on soaps and taught aerobics before being cast opposite
theatre legend Julie Harris in the 1994 Broadway revival
of The Glass Menagerie. Calista continued with
limited film appearances, including Robert Redfords
Quiz Show and the 1996 comedy hit Birdcage
with Robin Williams and another Broadway veteran Nathan
Lane. She returned to the Broadway stage in 1997 where she
received a Tony nomination for her role in Three Sisters.
Lets hope Ms. Flockhart finds time in her
busy television schedule to return to her first lovethe
theatreif only for a limited engagement.
